Many people say that recall is more important than precision in a cancer screening test. That is, we want to minimize the number of false-negatives instead of minimizing the number of false-positives. But isn't this just an opinion?
In some cases, wouldn't it be better to not tell a person that he has cancer when he really has it? This might be better for him emotionally? Whereas if we minimize the false-positives, we would be saving money for the patient and potentially for everyone?
