Burke seems to be a pretty involved guy for WY Corp, point of contact and/or liason with Ripley at "Gateway", the accompanying the "Colonial Marines" and Ripley to LV426, but what was his actual role for WY? He sends a message to investigate the "Spacejockey" ship and had the potential to intercept or interfere with communications etc between the colony and "the company".
